Shoal Creek Trail Extension Breaks Ground
The City of Gladstone in conjunction with the City of Kansas City broke ground on an extension to the existing Shoal Creek Trail on March 8, 2019.
This new section of the Shoal Creek Trail will expand the trails in Happy Rock Park and connect to North Brighton. This addition of 1.1 miles to the MetroGreen Network will connect to the M-1 Trail which will eventually connect to Pleasant Valley Park. The ten-foot wide trail will be constructed of concrete and can accommodate walkers, hikers, and bicyclists. The project is funded with a federal grant that is matched by Capital Improvement Funds from the Cities of Gladstone and Kansas City.
The project is another cooperative project between the two cities which has utilized federal funds to better connect our citizens. Once complete, the Shoal Creek Trail will be nearly 3.3 miles from Barry Road to North Brighton and will better connect the neighborhoods in Gladstone and Kansas City to Happy Rock Park.
