Linden Baptist Church Hosts Small Mall

A Northland tradition will be revived at Linden Baptist Church on December 7 and 8. In the heyday of Antioch Shopping Center, every Christmas season meant that children had a chance to shop at the ‘Small Mall,’ a collection of affordable small gifts that children could purchase for their siblings, parents, and friends. Now, Linden Baptist Church is reviving the tradition.

Small Mall will feature gifts at three price points–$1, $3, and $5. Parents pay for the gifts but then retire to the lounge to enjoy refreshments as Santa’s Helpers assist their young shoppers in choosing gifts and wrapping. The proceeds from the Small Mall will benefit missions work at Linden Baptist Church.

Small Mall will be open and available to the community on December 7th from 6-9 p.m. and December 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Linden Baptist Church is located at 611 NE 69th St., across from the Gladstone Community Center.

The Roasterie Debuts Holiday Blend

It’s the most wonderful time of the year in Kansas City; there’ll be parties for hosting and cups of The Roasterie’s Holiday Blend for toasting. The popular limited-run blend is enhanced with a pinch of cinnamon, dash of hazelnut and splash of vanilla, putting the season’s time-honored flavors at coffee lovers’ fingertips. Like the Country Club Plaza lighting ceremony and ice-skating at Crown Center, the Holiday Blend is a time-honored Kansas City tradition and the perfect accompaniment to every festivity.

“As one of our best-selling seasonal coffees, the Holiday Blend plays a part in celebrations with friends and family this special time each year,” says Danny O’Neill, founder of The Roasterie. “Both new and loyal Roasterie fans will enjoy the festive flavor. We’re delighted to bring it back again for a limited run.”

The seasonal Holiday Blend—in its signature, bright-red packaging—is available until Dec. 31.

Theatre Alliance Kansas City Coalition formed

Arts leaders from the Kansas City Rep, Unicorn Theatre, Coterie Theatre, Kansas City Actors Theatre and the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival have formed Theatre Alliance Kansas City, a community wide coalition, which will be dedicated to building awareness and increasing engagement with both theatre audiences and artists. The alliance will offer membership to all metro area theatres, professional, non-professional and academic. The inaugural Board of Directors includes Angela Gieras and Jason Chanos (KC Rep), Cynthia Levin (Unicorn Theatre), Joette Pelster and Jeff Church (Coterie Theatre), John Rensenhouse (KCAT) and Sidonie Garrett of HASF.

Levin notes, “Most of the theatres in this town have been working together informally for years. We now come together as a strong alliance with a collective voice to advocate for all theatre, and help market more effectively.”

Theatre Alliance Kansas City will increase its membership and presence within the next year. Plans include a web landing page, cross-promotion with increased exposure and creating a public celebration of all Kansas City theatre involving and including organizations, institutions and the many people who collaborate and create theatre.
