What’s that about April showers? If it means that Kansas City will be green again, bring them on! It’s time to get out of the house and enjoy all that the Northland has to offer!

That’s quite a bit and in this issue, we go a little bit outside of town to meet the folks providing top quality meat and eggs to some of the area’s finest chefs. The Barham family’s three generations all pitch in to create a sustainable farm. With the opening of their Wildflower Dreamz General Store this month, the Barham family is putting even more from their farm onto your table.

Sometimes gardening is just as therapeutic as it is nutritious. The North Star Club, one of the many programs offered by Tri-County Mental Health Services does a little of both, offering an opportunity to get in touch with the soil for adults with mental challenges. Their garden on their main campus is a chance to build something from the ground up and see the fruits (and vegetables) of their labor.

There’s more to dig into, from Eagle Animal Hospital’s 72nd anniversary to a guide to our new favorite direct flight destination of Iceland, but I’ll let you discover those for yourself. In the meantime, happy planting and don’t let those April showers get you down. May’s riot of life is worth it all.

Happy spring!
