Metro North Announces Major Golf-Entertainment Project
The new Metro North Crossing development recently announced that it would include a significant entertainment project when it replaces the former Metro North Center.
The long-awaited project will include a golf and entertainment complex when it opens next summer. Similar to TopGolf in Overland Park and the recently announced Driv Golf Lounge + Brewhouse in North Kansas City, the facility will be operated by Troon, a global leader in golf course management and development based in Scottsdale, Arizona. Though as yet unnamed, the center will feature a 52,000-square-foot complex and will include 64 climate-controlled, technology-enhanced hitting bays and suites on three levels.
The golf center will be designed for all ages and skill levels. Guests will be able to “play” several famous golf courses as their shots are projected on high-definition television screens. Players can use advanced tracking technology and receive real-time data on every swing.
The restaurant portion of the center will include an 8,000-square-foot sports bar with interactive televisions. Also planned are a member’s grill and rooftop view lounge.
Metro North Crossing is a $187.5 million mixed-use project being developed on the site of the former Metro North Mall.

Tri-County Mental Health Services Annual Banquet
Over 450 people attended the Tri-County Annual Banquet at Argosy Casino on August 28th. Three-time Olympian and mental health awareness advocate Suzy Favor-Hamilton was the keynote speaker. In a Q&A session with Tri-County CEO Tom Petrizzo, Hamilton openly conveyed personal aspects of her struggles with bipolar disorder.
“A lot of people can’t believe these behaviors go with the illness,” Hamilton explained, noting loved ones often have difficulty understanding mental illness. “I hope that someone will take an inkling of what I’m saying…and have more compassion.”
Besides featuring Hamilton’s story, the Banquet included awards to area residents who better the lives of those with mental illness. Tom Petrizzo and Emcee Carolyn Long of KCTV5 made the award presentations. Northland Realtor Kevin Trimble sponsored a couple of tables for friends. Tri-County Mental Health serves over 8,000 Northland residents each year.
