I need to admit something–I’m jealous. I’m jealous of the kids running down the aisles of Target, picking out new pencils and pads of wide or college-ruled paper. I’m jealous of the parents pouring over supply lists and fussing over pencil cases. I can’t WAIT to be able to do that for my daughter but we (thankfully, in some ways) have quite a way to go before I have the pleasure of going Back to School shopping.
I was and ever will be, a nerd. I loved school. I earned good grades, read without ceasing and looked forward to each school year. There is nothing like the end of August (it was the beginning of September in my day!) to bring butterflies to my stomach in anticipation of all the things that I would learn, the field trips I would take, and the new friends I would make. And now, in the age where being a nerd is cool (hello and thank you STEM!) I can’t wait for my daughter to have the same giddy anticipation. In the meantime and the next four years, I’ll just have to be content to read to her each day and watch her eager mind soak up her surroundings.
This month we have a little bit for everyone. For the fashion-savvy, we have our top picks for back to school fashion. Your kiddos will be the talk of the classroom in these looks. Max Groove will let you in on everything that he has learned in his more than 30-year career as a smooth jazz pianist. And learn how and where you can see the Great American Eclipse first hand this month. For some, it will be a once in a lifetime event–catch it now or wait until 2024!
Enjoy the stories and buy an extra pack of pencils for me!
