VFW Commemorates Vietnam Veterans

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7356 of Parkville, Missouri is one of the newest registered partners of the Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration sponsored by the Department of Defense that will be hosting an event for Vietnam veterans and their families this year. Post Commander Robert Bennett will coordinate the South Platte Memorial activities.

The Vietnam 50th Anniversary program will be organized around a series of national, regional, and local events that are designed to recognize Vietnam veterans, their families and their contribution to the war effort and community. The Post honored Vietnam Veterans last year during the Parkville 4th of July parade. Veteran of Foreign War Post 7356 is planning one event for 2017 on Sunday, June 25th at 2:00 p.m.

Two hundred and eighty-three of VFW Post 7356 membership is made up of Vietnam-era veterans. Those numbers, although significant, are only a small percentage of the number of local Vietnam veterans in the Platte County area. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post would be interested in hearing from veterans in the area who are not members of the Post. Your name would be added to the list of vets receiving recognition, information about the program, and will provide you an opportunity to participate in the upcoming event. For more information about the national program, go to VietnamWar50th.com. To receive more information, or to register for Post 7356 event, contact the local Vietnam Committee representative Ron Thiewes at 816.454.7886 or by email at vfwpost7356@kc.rr.com. South Platte Memorial Post 7356 is located at 10125 Tom Watson Parkway, Parkville, Mo 74152.
