Wolfe-Sweeney & Associates Adds
New Partner

Russ Wolfe and Candi Sweeney are excited to announce their new partner, Kristine Courtney, with a new team name and logo, “Wolfe~Sweeney & Courtney”.  Kristine joined Russ and Candi in 2007.  Wolfe~Sweeney & Associates have been the #1 Resale Team north of the River for 11 straight years.  Wolfe~Sweeney & Courtney, who closed over $47 Million in 2015, are located at the Reece Nichols office at The Village at Burlington Creek.  Kristine attended Park Hill High School, University of Missouri, and married Billy Courtney, her childhood sweetheart.  They raised their two children, Brandon and Anna, in the Northland, both of whom attended Park Hill South.  Kristine chose a real estate career after a successful management career with Aldi for 16 years.

Courtney’s decision to “retire” from management to start a successful real estate career was an easy transition and one she does not regret!  “The time I spend helping buyers find their “Dream Home” or selling in order to move on to the next chapter in their lives is both rewarding and fulfilling!  I love what I do!” says Courtney.

Jewell Debate Duo Named National Champion

William Jewell College senior communication majors David Hansen, Sterling, Utah, and Katelyn Johnson, Spanish Fork, Utah, won the 2016 National Parliamentary Debate Association (NPDA) Championship tournament on March 21. This is the country’s largest parliamentary debate tournament, hosted this year by California State University at Long Beach.

The duo bested more than 170 debate teams from across the country and finished 6-2 in the preliminary rounds to advance to the elimination round. Hansen and Johnson beat Southern Illinois University in the finals while arguing in the affirmative on the topic: “The United States federal government should require all telecommunications companies to provide backdoor access to their encryption protocols.”

“Unlike athletics, there are no divisions in college debate. We debate against such schools as the University of Oregon, the University of California-Berkeley or the University of Missouri,” says Director of Debate Kyle Dennis. “The results show that our best students can compete with their best students.”

In 2014, the debate squad was declared the 2014 NPDA College Debate National Champions, awarded to the school with the best showing among the school’s top four teams. This year marks the first time a Jewell duo team has claimed the championship.

Combers KC, recently opened their 2nd location in the Northland, in Kansas City, Missouri. Combers KC is the only licensed head lice treatment salon in Kansas City.  Owner Jennifer Miller is excited to offer another location to help families battle head lice.

Combers KC is trained and certified in the Shepard Method, a methodical strand by strand method, proven to be the most effective at removing all live lice and their eggs (nits). They use an all natural head lice treatment and prevention product line called Happyheads. “All natural lice removal products are needed because the lice, also known as super-lice, have built a resistance to the chemicals contained in the over the counter products,” Miller states.
