The 8th Annual running of the Missouri River 340 is set for July 23- 26th. The 340-mile canoe race starts in Kansas City and finishes on the other side of the state in St. Charles, Mo. Participants have 88 hours to navigate the course along the Missouri River, traveling day and night to be the first to finish. Eight mandatory checkpoints line the course in river towns along the way.
The fastest racers will finish in around 40 hours. Other, more recreational contestants will use every minute of the allotted 88 hours. Participants from around the country travel to Kansas City to compete in what has become one of the top ultra marathon paddling events in the country.
“It’s the world’s longest race of its kind,” says Mansker. “For that reason, the best paddlers want to try their hand. We’ve got about 25 states represented on the roster. And paddlers from Denmark, Mexico and Canada coming to KC.” Entries are limited to the first 400 boats. For more information, visit RiverMiles.com.
