In August 2011, The Midwest Classic, made its distinctive mark on the Kansas City area and on the Nicklaus Golf Club at LionsGate in Overland Park. As the official proving ground of the PGA Tour, Web.comTour events attract enthusiastic followers wherever they are held. The 2011 Midwest Classic was no exception. More than 15,000 attendees watched as golf professionals from across the country and around the world competed over four days of tournament play. The Midwest Classic has earned its place among the best tournaments in the country.
Founded, owned and operated by the PGA Tour, the Web.com Tour identifies players who are ready to compete and win on golf’s greatest stage. With two out of every three PGA Tour players boasting Web.com Tour roots, and alumni who’ve amassed more than 320 PGA Tour titles (including thirteen major championships and two FedEx Cups), their impact on the PGA Tour is undeniable.
The Web.com Tour features 29 tournaments like the Midwest Classic. Play will take place in Overland Park from August 16th-19th.
While the players make a significant impact on the PGA Tour, the tournaments make an equally significant impact in the communities where they’re held. With the help of volunteers and support from local sponsors, Web.com Tour events raise major dollars for designated charities–and that’s what the Web.com Tour is all about.
The Kansas City Area Cadillac Dealers are the presenting sponsor for the Midwest Classic this year. The local Cadillac dealers are: Superior Cadillac, Broome Cadillac, Van Cadillac and Conklin Fangman Cadillac. At the tournament, Cadillac will have various vehicle displays, as well as a unique opportunity with a golf application.
At MidwestClassic.com, golfers can download a free Supreme Golf App, Driven by Cadillac. When patrons visit their display at the event, they will receive a code for a free swing analysis by the Hank Haney golf team.
Additionally, the local Cadillac dealers are making a donation to Folds of Honor for every vehicle sold. Folds of Honor provides assistance to families of soldiers who were wounded or killed while serving our nation.
Hosts of the event are The Kansas City Crusaders, a group of individuals who’ve come together to unite two passions–professional golf and helping others–for the benefit of the community.
Together, they’re working to establish Kansas City as a professional golf tournament destination, helping area charities and boosting the local economy along the way. Look for them at the event in their lime green shirts and at the trophy presentation.
